Who wins the AI race?
Many more AI tools are being integrated into apps and operating systems. It's a game where the big giants (Apple, META, Adobe, Google, Amazon, Microsoft) all strive to find useful applications for their customers. Every big company is launching its own large language model. Will there be one LLM who rule them all? Who knows.
The AI topics of this month.
🛒 Amazon announces Q
Amazon launches a generative AI-powered assistant with multiple useful applications.
👨✈️ GitHub Copilot Workspace
Copilot Workspace lets developers brainstorm, plan, build, test, and run code using natural language. Just create a plan with prompts, and Copilot writes the code, allowing you to preview it online.
🎬 Adobe releases multiple new AI tools
Adobe makes it possible to generate images with Firefly 3 directly in Photoshop. They also release AI features within Premiere Pro to change, edit, or remove objects from film clips.
🍎 Apple intensifies talks with OpenAI & unveils iPad AI upgrades
Apple plans to launch new AI features in iOS 18, potentially with OpenAI or Google. They've also unveiled an iPad Pro with the M4 chip. CEO Tim Cook called it "an outrageously powerful chip for AI."

🧠 Amazon announces Q
Amazon launched four applications that make use of their generative AI-powered assistant: Amazon Q Developer, Amazon Q Business Amazon Q Apps and Amazon Q in QuickSight. All applications that make use of their generative AI model.

Why it's relevant
Many companies use Amazon for their cloud infrastructure. If you use their cloud services, you can easily integrate with Amazon Q, enabling AI capabilities within your infrastructure.
And I see that Amazon Q apps could become a very viable way in the future to build and launch a first version of your app. Essentially, it enables you to generate apps with a single prompt. However, these apps are currently quite basic, so Amazon needs to improve this feature significantly.
🧠 GitHub Copilot Workspace
GitHub released Copilot some time ago, offering a way to generate, edit, or generate code for your apps. Now, GitHub has introduced Copilot Workspace: a collaborative environment where developers can create a code plan, generate code with Copilot, preview the code via a link, and share it with other developers.

Why it's relevant
I believe Copilot has already enhanced the coding experience for developers. It enables developers to write code faster, generate coding ideas, and identify bugs. With GitHub Copilot Workspace, I see development teams becoming much more aligned and collaborating better together. You can see a demo of it here.
🎬 Adobe releases multiple new AI tools
Adobe is integrating more AI features within their Creative Cloud apps. They released Firefly Image 3 (their AI image generation model), and make it possible to directly generate AI images within Photoshop.

And AI features are added to Premiere Pro, allowing you to change, add, and remove objects within your film clips. But what's even more interesting is the integration of third-party models like Sora (from OpenAI) or Pika. These are all models that you can use to generate videos or extend video clips that have been recorded.

Why it's relevant
It helps creative teams create marketing or branding content more easily. By integrating Firefly and Sora directly into these tools, it's much more accessible for companies with smaller budgets to produce high-quality marketing content.
Additionally, it's beneficial for production companies. Filming or conducting photoshoots can be a cumbersome process where many things can go wrong. It's helpful to be able to add, extend, or modify content after shooting.
🍎 Apple intensifies talks with OpenAI & unveils iPad AI upgrades
Apple is extremely silent about all the AI developments, and they're very late to the party, which is crazy when you consider that they have Siri, which is basically becoming useless at this point when compared to services like ChatGPT. Now, Mark Gurman (Chief Correspondent at Bloomberg) wrote that Apple is in talks with OpenAI and Google to potentially integrate their models into iOS 18.

Apple also released a new iPad pro with a new M4 chip. The M4 is capable of handling 38T operations per second, 4x the performance of previous models, allowing for the running of advanced AI. CEO Tim Cook calls the M4 chip “an outrageously powerful chip for AI”

Why it's relevant
There will come a time when product makers can incorporate these AI features into the apps they develop for the App Store. This way, you can offer your customers AI capabilities within your mobile app.
I've discussed this in other AI navigators, but I also believe it's crucial to keep an eye on the apps within OpenAI. If Apple integrates OpenAI, it's possible that all the apps released within the ChatGPT store will also become available on iOS. If you've released an app in the ChatGPT store, your business app could potentially reach a much larger audience.
🔨 Tool of the month: Chat shortcut for Gemini in Chrome
You can now use GeminiI (Google’s AI assistant) directly from the address bar in Google Chrome. Here’s how you use it.
