OpenAI releases Google search competitor - AI navigator August
OpenAI released a Google Search competitor named SearchGPT. Meanwhile, three co-founders left OpenAI, and one of them joined the competitor Anthropic.
For the first time ever, Google Gemini’s 1.5 Pro claimed the number one spot on the AI chatbot arena leaderboard. The rating was decided by a large community. Multiple competitors are investing heavily in the space, and it seems there won't be a single LLM to dominate them all.
We have a lot to cover:

🔍 SearchGPT: search by OpenAI
OpenAI released a prototype for their new search, promising a faster way to find results without visiting multiple sites first.
Nowadays, I often use ChatGPT instead of Google, but it doesn't provide sources unless I ask. SearchGPT does and adapts the interface based on the question context. Still, I'm curious how this will affect companies' SEO strategies. OpenAI said they will partner with publishers and creators, but it's still unclear how OpenAI will send traffic to different websites.

🧠 Google Gemini 1.5 claims number 1 spot
Google’s Gemini 1.5 Pro has hit the number 1 spot on the Vision Leaderboard (voted by the dev community). I am not mentioning this to endorse Gemini over other models, but to highlight the importance of setting up your app’s backend to easily support or switch between multiple models. There will be more LLM’s in the future, and each model will have a different use case.

🍎 Apple’s AI features delayed, launching only on Mac in the EU
Apple announced they will postpone the Apple Intelligence features to iOS 18.1. The launch on iOS in Europe is delayed due to ongoing discussions with EU regulators. However, they can still launch on Macs, as the DMA (Digital Markets Act) impacts only iPhones and iPads, not Macs.

🦙 Meta launches Llama 3.1 with 4.5B parameters
Meta's new open-source LLM is the fastest and largest to date. Meta released three models, varying in parameters. Mark Zuckerberg commented on the decision to make LLaMA open-source:
“Open source will ensure that more people around the world have access to the benefits and opportunities of AI, that power isn’t concentrated in the hands of a small number of companies, and that the technology can be deployed more evenly and safely across society”
